Preview
Class AAAAA ranked Stephenson and Martin Luther King Jr. look to stay
undefeated on the season as they take on a pair of battle tested Class
AAAAA foes on Friday night.
The No. 9 ranked Lions of M.L. King host Collins Hill (1-1) coming off a
33-23 victory over South Gwinnett last Friday night at Hallford Stadium. The Lions got four touchdowns (3 receiving, 1 run) from senior receiver Blake Tibbs and look to the Tibbs and quarterback Jonquel Dawson combination against Collins Hill. Collins Hill is coming off a loss to Norcross, but opened the season with a win over Roswell. The two teams battle at Hallford Stadium at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
The No.5 ranked Jaguars (2-0) travel to undefeated Tift County (3-0) which plays in the tough Region 1-AAAAA in a battle of unbeaten Class AAAAA teams. The Jaguars are coming off a big 41-12 victory over Class AAA No. 9 ranked Cedar Grove and face a dangerous unranked Tift County squad which has defeated Shiloh 28-14 to improve to 3-0 on the season.
The surprising undefeated Chamblee Bulldogs (2-0) host No. 9 ranked Marist (1-1) in a big Region 6-AAAA matchup at North DeKalb Stadium on Friday.
The Bulldogs hold wins over Carver-Atlanta and Douglass while Marist is coming off a tough 15-11 loss to the No. 1 ranked Tucker Tigers.
Southwest DeKalb enters its game with 0-2 Douglass trying to improve to 2-1and keep on pace for a state playoff spot. The Panthers host Douglass on Saturday night at Panthersville.
