DeKalb Schools Basketball: Miller Grove, SW DeKalb Face Off

Friday's schedule includes Dunwoody at Tucker.

The No. 2 ranked Miller Grove Wolverines and No. 3 ranked Southwest DeKalb meet for the second time this season on Friday night at Miller Grove in a game set for 7 p.m.

The Wolverines (12-9) take on a Panther squad on an eight-game winning streak since the first of year. Miller Grove defeated Southwest 57-53 in overtime on the Panthers’ home floor in December and hold that one game lead in the Division B standings in Region 6-AAAA with a week left in the regular season.

The game will feature three of the Top 40 ranked players in the country in Miller Grove senior forward Tony Parker (17.2 points, 10.9 rebounds) and the Southwest duo of William Goodwin (21.8 points, 12.5 rebounds) and Jordan Price (18.3 points).

The girls’ game has No. 8 ranked Miller Grove Lady Wolverines (13-4) hosting an improving Southwest DeKalb Lady Panther (14-8) squad that holds a one game lead in the Division B due to a 43-31 victory over the Lady Wolverines in December.

The Columbia Lady Eagles are holding their annual Think Pink for the Cure Night on Friday as they host McNair following the 5:30 p.m. boys’ game. Prizes are going to be given away to those who join the Lady Eagles in their Play for the Cure Pink Out.

In other news, Miller Grove’s Tony Parker has been selected for the Jordan Brand All-Star Game. Senior power forward Parker is the the only Georgia selection to play in the Jordan Brand All-American Game on April 14 at the Time-Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte.

Parker, who has helped lead Miller Grove to three consecutive Class AAAA state titles, will play for the East team in a game featuring many of the top players from across the United States.

The 6-8 big man is averaging 17.2 points and 10.9 rebounds for the 12-9 Wolverines and just went over 1,500 career points (1,514) with his 18 points against Redan earlier this week. He also picked up 9 rebounds to put him at 1,201 rebounds during his four year career at Miller Grove.
