Cheryl Miller honored today for Women's History Month

A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Cheryl Miller in honor of Women's History Month 2014; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Cheryl Miller was born in Warner Robins, Georgia, while her father was serving as a captain in the United States Air Force; and

WHEREAS, she was raised in Fort Myers, Florida, where she attended Fort Myers High School and graduated with honors; and

WHEREAS, her family has a long history in this state of serving others in the areas of education, transportation, and health care; and

WHEREAS, upon graduation from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Cheryl worked for several Fortune 100 companies in her chosen field of communications but found a calling in the broadcast and cable news business; and

WHEREAS, after nearly five years as research manager for WINK-TV, the local CBS affiliate and top rated station in Fort Myers, she was recruited in 1998 to join CNN News Services in Atlanta to start up the marketing research department; and

WHEREAS, while at CNN, she led several key studies for CNN Newsource, CNN.com, CNNRadio, and CNN en Español and was a key player in assisting the cable news network transition into the era of digital content delivery; and

WHEREAS, today, Cheryl is a devoted wife to her husband, Paul, and a loving mother to her  daughter, Melody; and

WHEREAS, this amazing woman is involved in helping her community of Tucker preserve  its history, increase voter turnout for local and state elections, and improve the educational outcomes for its children; and

WHEREAS, above and beyond the countless number of hours she spends as a volunteer with her local school, church, and community, Cheryl has been influential in helping DeKalb's diverse communities look for common ground and bridge communication gaps that have
existed between them; and

WHEREAS, she also manages to find time to blog about her experiences on the Tucker Patch, DeKalb School Watch, Atlanta Parent with Kid, Hub Pages, and Blogger.com; and

WHEREAS, Cheryl is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Cheryl Miller in honor of Women's History Month 2014 for her extraordinary dedication to protecting and improving the quality of life of her fellow citizens and extend to her their most sincere best wishes for continued success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Cheryl Miller.
