My New Blog

State Representative Scott Holcomb is now a blogger for Tucker Patch.

I am honored that Tucker Patch has invited me, as the State Representative for the 82nd House District, to write a blog for the community. My district includes much of the Tucker, Northlake, North Briarcliff, Embry Hills and Pleasantdale areas. I welcome this opportunity for us to share our views with one another.

I took office this past January, and in April I completed my first legislative session. Perhaps you were able to attend one or both of the town hall meetings that I held (along with Sen. Steve Henson) to update you on the session. I’ve now begun planning a third meeting, to take place in the fall, in which the focus will be on quality of life in the 82nd district, with an emphasis on sustaining our resources. I hope that you already subscribe to my on-line newsletter.  If not, send me an email at scott@repscottholcomb.com and I’ll put you on the list.

I hope to use my space here to talk about some of the tough topics facing our state, including the need to improve our schools, our transportation problems and the need to fix them, and the severe budget deficit. I also would like us to have exchanges about ways to make our community even better than it is.

Because Georgia has a “citizen legislature,” I have a year-round job as an attorney. But the district, and its citizens, are on my mind all year round, and I want to continue to hear from you.

From time to time my Chief of Staff, Ann Abramowitz, will post on this blog. You may have seen her by my side at community meetings; she helps me at the Capitol as well. She’s a long-time resident of the area and a faculty member at Emory University.

Again, my thanks to Tucker Patch for giving me this opportunity to share my thoughts with those I serve, and for giving you the opportunity to respond.

Scott
