Tucker Parent Council to Discuss SPLOST IV at October Meeting

SPLOST IV is the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax designated for DeKalb's school system.

The Tucker Parent Council will host its next meeting on Monday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at , which is located at 1855 Brockett Road in Tucker. Representatives from the school district will be on hand to present the upcoming SPLOST IV referendum and what it means for DeKalb County School System (DCSS) and its residents. Following the presentation, those attending will be able to participate in a question and answer session.

SPLOST IV is the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax designated for DCSS. On November 8, 2011, DeKalb County residents will vote to extend the one-cent sales tax that supports the Capital Improvements Plan for DCSS; this plan will focus on school construction and infrastructure improvements over the next five years. The Tucker Parent Council (TPC) was formed in 2002 by a collaborative group of parent and educators to a) serve as advocates for Tucker community schools, b) encourage citizens to be individual change agents on behalf of public education, and c) serve as a conduit for proactive dialogue with DCSS leaders and board members on behalf of Tucker community schools.
