‘Red, Hot & Blue’ Auction Raises Thousands for Evansdale Foundation

Second annual event scores $28,500 for education purposes.

More than 200 attendees showed up last week to the second annual ‘Red, Hot & Blue’ auction to raise money for the Evansdale Education Foundation.

The event was held March 24 at the Smoke Rise Counry Club. Speaking on behalf of the foundation, Lauren Shankman told Patch, "Overall the evening was a huge success, with $28,500 raised in one night!"

That amount represents a 42 percent increase over the foundation’s first event in 2011, helping to build momentum for the non-profit organization and the school itself. The evening’s proceeds, combined with funds raised during the fall’s annual appeal brings the two-year-old foundation to a total of $75,500 of gross earnings raised in 2011-2012, thus reaching its annual goal well ahead of schedule.

"The French-themed evening is designed to highlight the school’s commitment to French language learning and Evansdale Elementary’ s unique language magnet program," the foundation said in a statement.

Auction items included tickets, tours, jewelry, photography and French wines.

“We are fortunate to have talented, passionate teachers and staff and engaged parents who want to support and partner with the school to help it reach its full potential,” said J.C. Boyanton, chairman of the Evansdale Education Foundation. “Seeing the results of last week’s auction provides a huge validation to everyone who invested their time, efforts and resources."
