Evansdale Elementary Holds First Walk-A-Thon

The fundraiser brought in around $65,000.

Evansdale Elementary School held its first ever EagleTrek Walk-A-Thon on Thursday, Oct. 4. This event was a combined fundraiser for Evansdale’s PTA as well as the Evansdale Education Foundation.

All 650 students participated by walking laps around the school’s lower field while parents and volunteers cheered them on and checked off their laps.

The fundraiser was a tie-in with the school’s theme this year of “Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds” and although the number is not final, we should come in around $65,000. That was the school’s goal and there was record level of participation in the fundraising as a whole.

The children are of course excited as their principal, Dr. Daniel McGuire, will have to wear a chicken suit to carpool sometime this month! This was part of the deal to get kids excited to break the $55,000 mark.

The school truly railed in the final week of fundraising, raising more than $19,000 as part of a challenge to receive another $7,000 from an anonymous donor.
