DeKalb Schools Football: Middle Schools Closing in on Playoff Berths

The Tucker Tigers shut out Henderson (0-4) 44-0 on the way to a 4-0 record and 2-0 in region play.

Peachtree (5-0) kept its undefeated mark intact in DeKalb Middle Schools football action with a 21-0 victory over McNair (1-4) and also clinched one of the two Region 3 playoff berths to the Trail to the Championship set to start on October 22.

Bethune (5-0) and Tucker (4-0) remained undefeated and on a collision course in Region 1 with victories on Saturday. Bethune rolled to a 70-14 victory over Sequoyah (1-4) to improve to 3-0 in Region 1 and 5-0 overall.

The Tucker Tigers shut out Henderson (0-4) 44-0 on the way to a 4-0 record and 2-0 in region play. Both teams will enter this week's game at Adams Stadium undefeated and vying for the top spot in Region 1.

Cedar Grove (4-0) kept its slate clean with a 50-6 victory over Chamblee (1-3) in Region 2 play and moved into a tie with Stephenson (4-0, 2-0) atop the region standings.

Columbia (2-2) defeated Lithonia (0-4) 46-6 and with a victory this week against Redan would clinch a playoff spot while setting up a region title game against Peachtree on October 15.

Teams can claim playoff berths this weekend

Five teams have the opportunity to wrap up Trail to the Championship playoff berths this weekend during DeKalb middle school football action.

The Region 1 playoff berths has three teams still in the running heading into the weekend, including undefeated Bethune (5-0, 3-0) and Tucker (4-0, 2-0) who meet head-to-head on Saturday in a 10:30 a.m. game at Adams Stadium.

Bethune can clinch the region title with a win while Tucker would have a one-game lead with one to play.

Cedar Grove (4-0, 2-0) and Stephenson (4-0, 2-0) can both clinch Region 2 playoff berths with victories on Saturday against Salem (3-2, 1-2) and Chamblee (1-3, 0-2), respectively.

In Region 3, Columbia (2-2, 2-0) can move into a tie with Peachtree (5-0, 3-0) atop the standings with a victory in its game against Redan (0-4, 0-2).

A Columbia win would pit them against Peachtree the following week with the winner taking the Region 3 title.

Druid Hills (4-1, 2-0) is currently atop the Region 4 standings with defending champion Miller Grove (2-2, 1-0) right behind the leader.

Druid Hills is idle this week and a Miller Grove win would set up a showdown with Druid Hills the following week.

Miller Grove takes on Freedom (0-4, 0-1) this weekend in an effort to set up the title game.

  • Cedar Grove (4-0) vs. Salem (3-2), Panthersville, 10:30 a.m.
  • Stephenson (4-0) vs. Chamblee (1-3), Hallford, 10:30 a.m.
  • Tucker (4-0) vs. Bethune (5-0), Adams, 10:30 a.m.
  • Open: Champion (3-2), Druid Hills (4-1), Peachtree (5-0), Sequoyah (1-4), Stone Mountain (0-5)
