Claire Lippy Is TCA Student Of The Year

Well-deserved honor bestowed on a very active teenager.

High school senior Claire Lippy was awarded the Tucker Civic Association's Student of the Year Award at the organization's membership meeting last night.

She was presented with a plaque by TCA Vice President Ron Wilkinson, who spoke of her numerous achievements while at .

"Claire is an exceptional student in academics and also a great athlete in sports. She is very active in her community with different organizations such as Anchor Club and Habitat for Humanity. She also participated in the Healthcare Explorer Post at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Claire [also] coached a girls soccer team at ."

Lippy was recommended for the award by Sandra Langford, Certified Tech Support Specialist at Tucker High, who wrote a letter to TCA listing the reasons for her choice. Among them were Lippy's work with the Girl Scouts and the Fernbank Science Center, Beta Club, Youth Groups, Yearbook Staff and the German Club.

"After Hurricane Katrina in 2006, she traveled with a group to Pearlington, Mississippi. During 2011, she was busy going to Dallas, Texas, Gary, West Virginia and to the helping others," Langford wrote.

"I'm very happy and proud to have received it," Lippy told Tucker Patch with a smile while clutching her plaque. She then excused herself to rush off to a soccer banquet at the school.
