Alumni News: Local Students Honored

Mike Weaver received a bachelor of science degree in physics at the 189th commencement ceremony at Centre College held on May 20, 2012 in Danville, KY. Weaver is the son of Sandra Weaver of Tucker and Norman Weaver of Norcross.

The following students, Camille Johnson and Christopher Long, have earned the distinction of Dean's List at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta for spring semester 2012. 

Jill Rahnert has earned a degree in Applied Physiology, also from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Rahnert was among approximately 2,500 undergraduate and graduate students who received degrees during Georgia Tech's 242nd commencement exercises.

Kristyn Roden was among students honored recently with inclusion on Carson-Newman College's Dean's List for the spring 2012 semester. The college is located in Jefferson City, TN.

Logan Shirah has been named to the Spring 2012 Dean's List at Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, GA. Shirah is a Art major.

The following local students have been named to the spring 2012 Dean's List at Berry College: Katie Harber, Andrea Cole and Allison Erdman. To be eligible for Dean's List, a student must carry a semester GPA of 3.5 or better.

Sarah Harber earned a Bachelor of Science summa cum laude and University Honors from the College of Liberal Arts of Mercer University during the May commencement for the University's Macon campus. Mercer President William D. Underwood conferred the degree at the ceremony.

The following students, all seniors, were named to the Dean's List of their college or school at Mercer University for the spring 2012 semester. Inclusion on these lists requires students to meet rigorous grade-point-average standards specific to their school within the University. Liam Groseclose was named to the Dean's List of the Georgia Baptist College of Nursing. Christo Irias was named to the Dean's List of the Tift College of Education. Tiffany Kellaway was named to the President's and Dean's lists of the Georgia Baptist College of Nursing.

Alexander Robert Boal, a student at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, was named to the Dean's List for the Spring semester of the 2011-2012 academic year. Boal is a graduate of Chamblee High School and is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Robert K. Boal of Tucker.

Valdosta State University has announced the names of students from Spring 2012 who have met all qualifications for graduation. More than 1,200 have been recognized for receiving their associate's, bachelor's or master's degrees. Tucker students include Katie Elizabeth Callahan, Bachelor of Science, Early Childhood Education, and Michael Wesley Blaylock, Master of Science, Sociology.

Valdosta State also announced the names of students from Spring 2012 who have earned the academic status of Dean's List. They are Nathan Daniel Hovey and Raina Jessine Mitchell.

Laura Allison Akins graduated from Samford University in Birmingham, AL., during spring commencement. Akins earned a Juris Doctor.

Caitlin Marie Raines has been named to the President's List at Clemson University for the spring 2012 semester. Raines is majoring in Nursing.

Bradley Starr is among the 559 students who earned dean's list honors for the spring 2012 semester at Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, MD. Bradley, a junior at the Mount, achieved dean's list by maintaining a 3.4 or higher grade point average

Georgia Southern University recently recognized 1,090 students for excellence in academics on the 2012 Spring Semester President's List. To be eligible for the President's List, a student must have at least a 4.0 grade point average and carry a minimum of 12 hours for the semester. The University is proud of these high-achieving students from Tucker: Elizabeth Rucker, majoring in Early Childhood Education; Erin Seal, majoring in Chemistry; Brian Nicolatos, a Pre-Business major; Susan Williams, a Pre-Nursing/Nursing major.

Nathan Townsend, a junior Accounting major at Grove City College in Grove City, PA., has been named to the Dean's List with High Distinction for the spring 2012 semester. Nathan is a 2009 graduate of Killian Hill Christian School and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Townsend (Rosalie) from Tucker.

The following college students were named to Oglethorpe University's Dean's List for the Spring 2012 semester. Eleanor Burden, an English major; Ariana McClellan, a psychology major; Sheeba Sajja, a mathematics major.
