Great Ways to Take Back Your Tucker, One Meal at a Time!

Hungry? Community involvement can be as simple as going out to dinner!

TUCKER: Please remember to SUPPORT your LOCAL businesses!

DINING OUT THIS WEEKEND? CONSIDER THE ROXX!
A GREAT NEW ADDITION TO THE NORTHLAKE SIDE OF TUCKER!

The best way to help your own local economy grow is to continue doing what you have always done - spend your money locally when you can. A GREAT way to do that this weekend is to try out the ROXX Tavern on Northlake Parkway! It's open and the food is EXCELLENT! The franchise is well known in the Buckhead area and a favorite spot for diners there. Let's make the Tucker location an even bigger and better success!

The owner has taken a lot of care to upgrade the quality of this building and they added a lot of extra touches, like etcher-sketch pads for kids to play with and children's books that contain the menu on the inside of the cover!  Big screen televisions are everywhere so you can watch whatever sporting event is on from every angle possible!

WANT GOOD FOOD IN A RELAXED ATMOSPHERE? TRY YUM YUM THAI! EXCELLENT FOOD AND NICE PEOPLE!

If you want to dine somewhere (or get food for carry out) that has a long established reputation for QUALITY food and REASONABLE prices - don't forget about YUM YUM THAI!  This is a favorite Tucker establishment that simply is not busy enough these days as the shopping center has been empty for quite a while.  They could really use your business and the food is still the same great quality it has always been!

Yum! Yum! Thai is located on Lawrenceville Highway in the shopping plaza at the corner of Fellowship Road.  The same family has owned and operated it for more than a decade and have many local awards and reviews posted on the walls!  I personally like the Mixed Veggie with Chicken and White Rice, Coconut Soup and Spring rolls.  The Massaman Curry is also delicious as is the Drunken Noodle!

Locally zoned business districts face tough competition from national chains and big box types of corporate stores across all industries.  While these types of establishments may offer some advantages, they will never take their profit and reinvest it directly in the community where you live.  Every dollar they earn is corporate revenue, where our locally owned businesses are ones that support families and employees who live right here in our own community, or in the very near surrounding areas.

Economic development does not have to be at odds with the rights of private property owners.  If there is a business that offers something that is worth your money, they will learn how to earn your business.  Growth based on mutual respect between the business and residential sectors is sustainable growth.  Anything else is a scheme for someone else to get rich and as we learned in the Great Recession, the bottom will eventually fall out.

TAKE BACK TUCKER!
SPEND LOCALLY AND GET TO KNOW YOUR NEIGHBORS!

p.s.   And speaking of meals, a special thank you to those involved with the free lunch program offered this year by Tucker Civic, the Tucker United Methodist Church and other volunteer organizations.  Every year they prepare and deliver great food to area children who might ordinarily have difficulty getting the proper nutrition over the summer due to the financial troubles in their families.  Many of our local restaurants have donated food and their employee time to this cause over the years as well.
