Winter Weather Nixes Inaugural Events

No public seating to be available inside capitol for swearing-in ceremony

 has prompted the cancellation of all non-essential inaugural activities on Monday.
With snow and ice forecast for the area, Governor-elect Nathan Deal encouraged all citizens to stay off the roadways.

 remains set for Monday, Jan. 10. The ceremony will be held inside the state capitol on the floor of the House of Representatives. No seating for the general public is available, but the ceremony will be broadcast live on Georgia Public Broadcasting at 2:30 p.m. and will be streamed live on the internet athttp://www.dealinaugural.com/tv.php.

Citizens holding tickets for the inauguration may watch the swearing-in ceremony at the Georgia Freight Depot through a live feed.

Monday night’s ball at Philips Arena has also been cancelled. Ticket holders will receive a full refund.
