Feedback Wanted: DeKalb Lawmakers Meeting in Tucker Tonight

State Representative Scott Holcomb and State Senator Steve Henson will be in town to discuss issues and listen to residents' concerns

 A town hall meeting will be held tonight, Monday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. at the , 4898 LaVista Road, hosted by State Representative Scott Holcomb (D-82) and State Senator Steve Henson (D-41) 

"It's important that we reach out and inform the community about the various issues going on at the State Capitol, and listen to constituents' input," said Henson, whose district includes Tucker, Stone Mountain and Northlake. 

Topics for discussion will include budget cuts, immigration, Sunday sales of alcohol, transportation, the HOPE Scholarship and Pre-K funding.

"It's the responsibility of elected officials to listen to our constituents and come up with the best solutions for the state of Georgia," Holcomb said.

"We're especially interested in drawing attention to our efforts to save the Hope Scholarship program," added Holcomb, who was elected to the legislature last November. "The scholarship fund currently faces a $243 million budget shortfall and cash reserves are projected to run out by 2013."
