'Jobs Bus' Comes Back to Tucker

Tucker residents are looking for work, and it looks like DeKalb County Public Libraries are doing their part to help. A number of library branches are hosting the Mobile Career Center or “jobs bus” this month.

The bus comes to on Thursday, March 15 and Wednesday, March 28 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. It will also be at on Tuesday, March 27 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Continuing Education Coordinator Raylynn Hughes says the library is pleased to provide space for the bus, where services include internet access, printing, scanning and copying services and help with resume writing and developing
interview skills.

“The library also offers help to job seekers,” she said. “We hope visitors to the
jobs bus will come into the library branch as well, get a free library card and take advantage of such library assistance as free internet time and online resources to assist in resume writing and improving job readiness skills.”

Major features of the resource center include 13 computer stations; a private interview area; high-speed satellite Internet connection; printer, scanner and copy services; and a fully accessible ADA workstation with movable table and auxiliary. 

Businesses will be able to use the mobile unit for recruiting, pre-employment screenings, interviewing, and training. The mobile unit will also provide residents with essential services including, job search assistance, adult workshops and training, resume writing, and interviewing tips.
