DeKalb CEO Burrell Ellis Writes About 9/11

Ellis shares his thoughts on the 10th anniversary.

Dear Neighbor:

For the last decade, Sept.11 has marked the anniversary of horrific events in our nation's history that rocked our foundation of safety and security. People from all walks of life endured tremendous loss on that day 10 years ago. In total, nearly 3,000 American citizens lost their lives, including police officers, firefighters, paramedics and emergency medical technicians, and other heroes and first responders.

Few events in our nation's history have evoked a greater range of emotions, such as sorrow, courage, fear, pride, and even more significantly perseverance and hope. As DeKalb County joins communities across our nation in commemorating the 10-year anniversary of 9-11, it is important to remember that when we stand united and work together, unimaginable achievements will take place. We grow stronger because our collective spirit and resolve empowers us to carry on.

We will never forget.
