Woman Arrested After Wrong-Way Chase on U.S. 78

Police say a couple used a U-Haul truck to rob Macy's. The man escaped.

A woman is in jail, charged with two felonies, after allegedly stealing from Macy's department store in Tucker, leading police officers on a wrong-way chase on U.S. Highway 78 and then slamming into a pole.

Nicole Denise Freeman, 42, of Atlanta, is being held without bond at DeKalb County jail, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and has been charged with theft by shoplifting and obstruction.

Police said Freeman and an unidentified male accomplice allegedly took a pile of clothing from the Northlake Mall store Thursday night and ran out to a waiting U-Haul truck. With the police in pursuit, they drove the wrong way on U.S. 78 before crashing near the Valley Brook Drive exit. The two then ran in different directions.
