UPDATE: Tucker Business Fire Creates Rush Hour Chaos

Tuesday's evening rush hour was marred by fire at a recycling plant near I-285.

Two dozen firefighters battled a fierce blaze Tuesday at a business adjacent to I-285 south of LaVista Road, according to the Atlanta-Journal Constitution.

The fire closed four southbound lanes of the highway during the evening rush hour, creating havoc for motorists because of the intense smoke and poor visibility.

CBS Atlanta identified the business as , which is located at 3434 Montreal Industrial Way in Tucker.

HERO units were also at the scene of the fire, which started just after 4 p.m.

Heavy equipment was used to remove large bales of cardboard boxes which were in danger of igniting, the AJC reported.  

The reporter on board the CBS Atlanta Sky Eye chopper saw intense flames coming from a back lot filled with recycling materials, and said there was also smoke coming from the back of the main building.

Employees and customers were evacuated from the area safely and no injuries were reported. All lanes of I-285 were reopened after the fire was brought under control.
