Tucker Bank Worker Sentenced to Prison

Jason Shepherd was found guilty of mail fraud.

A man employed by in Tucker has been sentenced to two years in federal prison for stealing $25,000 in money orders from his workplace.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that in 2009, Jason Shepherd, 25, of Lithonia, stole about 50 money orders that were intended for the IRS as tax payments. The U.S. Attorney's Office said that Shepherd altered the money orders and then deposited them into his own debit accounts.

Shepherd pleaded guilty to mail fraud last October and in addition to the prison term was ordered to pay $24,958 in restitution to the IRS.
