Ten Traffic Fatalities Reported Over Christmas

Georgia State Patrol has investigated 456 crashes with 191 injuries.

Ten traffic deaths have been reported since the 102-hour Christmas holiday travel period began Friday at 6 p.m. up to 6 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

There have been 456 crashes with 191 injuries and seven deaths investigated by the Georgia State Patrol (GSP).

The fatalities count is already much higher than in 2011, when three traffic deaths were reported. Last year there were 1,898 accidents with 693 injuries reported by all agencies.

Fatalities have been reported in the following jurisdictions during this holiday travel period:

  • GSP Rome
  • GSP Toccoa
  • GSP Athens
  • GSP Gainesville
  • College Park Police
  • Smyrna Police
  • Newman Police
  • GSP Grovetown
  • GSP Thomasville

The travel period ended at midnight on Tuesday.
