Student From Tucker Arrested in Texas

The Tyler Junior College student was arrested Tuesday night after a fight on campus.

Tyler Brunson of Tucker was arrested at Tyler Junior College Tuesday night after a fight on campus, KETK-TV is reporting.

Also arrested was Alton Tanner of Katy, TX. Both students were members of the 2011-12 men’s basketball team at the college, but they have been suspended from TJC and all college activities and organizations as a result.

The station is reporting that campus security officers responded to a fight at about 11:30 p.m. between Claridge and Sledge residence halls. Officers broke up the fight and summoned an ambulance for Austin Mansell, of Royse City, who was treated at East Texas Medical Center and then released.

Brunson and Tanner were booked into Smith County Jail where they were charged with aggravated assault with bodily injury. Bond for both individuals was set at $75,000 each, KETK said.

“Regardless of involvement in athletics or other student groups, students of TJC are expected to honor the Apache Creed and behave in a civil manner, on campus and off,” said Dr. Tim Drain, director of intercollegiate athletics. “We have worked hard the past two years to improve campus civility and provide a safe and orderly environment. We take these issues seriously and have high expectations of all students.”
