Report: Suspect Arrest Causes Reduction in Crime

Louie Newton is suspected of breaking in to more than a dozen homes.

A suspect in a string of Tucker burglaries has been arrested and is in custody, according to Capt. Steve Fore of the DeKalb Police Department.

Louie Newton, an electrician by trade, would approach residences, pretending he was looking for electrical work. "If there was no one home, he would either sometimes do a burglary, break in right then, or case the location and come back at a later time," said Fore.

So far, detectives have linked Newton to at least 13 break-ins, and since being arrested on Sept. 5, Fore told WSB there has been "a 52% reduction in burglaries in the Northlake area."
