Report: Child Assaulted by Counselor at Tucker Rec Center

A mother tells police her son received a black eye from a counselor.

A counselor at the Tucker Recreation Center kicked a young boy in the face with his knee, according to a report filed by the DeKalb County Police Department.

The incident occurred on Friday, March 29 during an after-school program, the report stated. Latasha Threat told police her son came home with a bruise under his left eye that was caused by a counselor who got angry when the boy disobeyed him.

When interviewed by police, the boy said he had asked permission to get his iPod from his bag and the counselor said no. "He stated he attempted to go around the counselor (who) assaulted him with his knee as he was going down the stairs," the report said. "As he was running by the counselor, he 'sneaked him' by slapping the counselor on the cheek. He stated he continued to run and the counselor grabbed him by his right arm and threw him across the floor."
