UPDATE: Crime Map 'Hopefully' Online Next Week

DeKalb's crime map suddenly re-appeared Thursday morning.

As of this morning, Crimemapping.com is displaying incidents reported in DeKalb County. The service had been unavailble since July 12.

The DeKalb County Police Department should have its online crime map back up by next week, a police spokeswoman said Monday.

The department has been upgrading its police reporting system this month, and, as a consequence, its account with CrimeMapping.com has been inactive since July 12. The service allows residents to see where and when crimes occur on an interactive, online map of the county. Several nearby jurisdiction are also visible.

Spokeswoman Mekka Parish the map would be back up by last Monday. But officers were given until Friday to upload police reports they've written manually since the system went down to be upgraded, she said Monday.
