Northlake Deli Workers Robbed at Gunpoint

The thieves made away with nearly $4,000 from the cash register

Armed robbers held up three workers and stole nearly $4,000 from the Northlake Festival shopping center restaurant last week, DeKalb County police said.

The deli's shift manager and two employees were leaving for the night at about 11:30 p.m. on March 17, according to the police report. Two men–one holding a shotgun, the other a black pistol–approached them and forced them back inside the deli.

The suspects ordered the two employees to the ground and forced the manager into the office housing the deli's safes, the report said.

"Hurry up and get the money or somebody gonna die tonight," one of the suspects told the manager.

The manager opened both of the deli's safes, and he told police he was ordered to get on his knees, face the wall and put his hands behind his head. The suspects then forced the employees into the freezer.  The employees waited for about 10 minutes and left the freezer when they heard the deli's alarm sound. The suspects had fled through the rear door.
