Neighborhood Dog Shot With Arrow

A Tucker resident who lives in the Thornbriar area (her property backs up to Henderson Park) shares her anguish at a senseless attack.

At approximately 5:30 p.m. Saturday my dog Siddie was shot by an arrow on my front lawn. She is currently in surgery at UGA and fighting for her life.

I have briefly spoken to the police to make sure they step up patrols in the neighborhood and will follow up with forensics in the morning.

The arrow that went through her body and then lodged against her spine is not a target arrow; it is a triple point arrow which I understand is lethal and used to hunt game.

This is serious. I don't know if this is some kid out shooting target practice and unaware of the danger, or some vagrant wandering from the park. Regardless, this is a serious offense and a danger to us all. Please be cautious with your pets and most importantly, your children.

If any of you have any information to share regarding witnessing the event, or know of anyone in the neighborhood who shoots with a bow and arrow, please contact me so that I may pass onto the police.

I am heartbroken and so concerned for all of our safety.

Sincerely,
Kirby Vanderyt
