Man Carjacked at Gunpoint on Hugh Howell

The incident happened Tuesday just after 2 p.m.

A man reported to DeKalb county police that he was carjacked at gunpoint on Hugh Howell Tuesday (July 23) afternoon.

According to the incident report, the victim left Nationwide Insurance at 4379 Hugh Howell Rd. and was in the parking lot getting into his vehicle, a baby blue 2006 Chrysler van valued at $4,000, when about four men surrounded him. 

The report states that the first suspect pointed a semi-automatic handgun to the side of the victim's head and said, "Give me the keys and get away from the car."

The victim said he complied. The suspects got into the vehicle and headed north on Cowan Road, according to the report.

Police spoke to a Nationwide employee, who said she'd seen the suspects "loitering in the parking lot for several minutes" but did not see the incident happen.

The tag number of the vehicle is ADG8245.

The men were described in the report as follows: 

  • Suspect #1 - black male, 6 feet, 160 pounds, approximately 20 years old. Armed with black semi-automatic handgun.
  • Suspect #2 black male, 5'7," 150 pounds, black shirt with Rolling Stones written on front, approximately 18-20 years old
  • Suspect # 3- black male, 5'7," 150 pounds, black shirt, black hat, low afro, silver chain connecting from his front to back right pocket, approximately 18-20 years old
  • Suspect #4 - black male, 5'7," 150 pounds, black shirt, approximately 18-20 years old.
