Gunman Injures Tucker Footballer

Tevin Holliman is in hospital recovering from a gunshot wound.

Tucker sophomore Tevin Holliman was one of two Western Kentucky football players injured early this morning from gunshot wounds in an incident outside a bar near the university, according to the Herald, the campus paper.

The other player is freshman Ricardo Singh, from Auburndale, Fla.

WKU athletics issued a statement saying neither Holliman nor Singh were in possession of a gun at the time. Both are receiving hospital care for non life-threatening injuries.

Ronnie Ward, public information officer for Bowling Green Police, said, "one of our officers was driving by Lava Lounge and heard gunshots. He got out and tried to locate who the shooter was but didn’t have any luck and he called for back up.”

“We found out that two victims were taken to the hospital by car,” Ward said. “Right now we’ve interviewed several witnesses but have not been able to determine a suspect yet.”

The Atlanta-Journal-Constitution is reporting that the shooting happened hours after the team played its annual spring game.

WKU football head coach Willie Taggart spoke with the parents of each player, the statement said, and both police and officials from WKU athletics are gathering more information.

The WKU alert system said a black male wearing blue shorts and a white tank top was involved in the shooting, The Herald said.
