DeKalb County Commissioner Stan Watson, and sponsors and committee members of the DeKalb International Food and Music Festival held at Northlake Mall in October, donated a check $10,000 to the DeKalb Police Alliance, Tuesday.

The money will assist in paying the annual life insurance premium policy for sworn officers who serve in DeKalb County and its municipalities, an annoucement said.

Since the commencement of the DeKalb International Food and Music Festival, each year, with the help of the sponsors, Commissioner Watson and the festival partners have been able to contribute $30,000 to the DeKalb County Police Alliance.

"I want to recognize and thank the 2013 festival sponsors and festival committee for all of their contributions toward a successful event,” said Watson, in the media statement. “I look forward to continuing to work with these partners so that each year our faithful and well deserving “Men and Women in Blue” who take an oath to take care of us are indeed, should something happen, be taken care of as well.”
