DeKalb Hosting Emergency Response Training

Workshops begin April 25 in Tucker.

DeKalb County will host a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training Workshop beginning April 25 through June 20.

The six-week workshop will be held on Thursday evenings from 7 – 9:30 p.m. at DeKalb Fire Rescue Headquarters, 1960 West Exchange Place in Tucker.

Participants will learn what to do before, during and after a disaster occurs. The workshop will also train citizens to care for their family and neighbors.

Course topics include: Disaster Preparedness, Basic Fire Suppression, Medical Operations, Light Search and Rescue Operations, Disaster Psychology, Team Org/Terrorism, Autism Awareness, and Disaster Drill.

The workshop is free for DeKalb County citizens. A background check is required. For more information or to register, contact Specialist Robert Swanson at 678-406-7858 or raswanson@dekalbcountyga.gov. Registration will also be available at the first class on April 25.
