Citizen Police Academy Graduation Wednesday

Forty-five community members to receive honor.

The DeKalb County Police Department will recognize its recent graduates of the Citizen Police Academy during a graduation ceremony. Forty-five participants will be presented certificates for completing the , which was conducted at police headqurters in Tucker. 

The ceremony is tonight, Wednesday, August 29 at 7 p.m. at the Maloof Auditorium, 1300 Commerce Drive in Decatur.

During the program, officers from various units provided citizen academy attendees an inside perspective about the complexities and operational structure of the Department. Instruction included presentations and demonstrations from Uniform Patrol, Special Operations and Criminal Investigation Divisions.

It’s the aim of the program to assist in building and nurturing stronger relationships between the community and the DeKalb County Police Force.  Following graduation, some of the participants will continue supporting public safety by volunteering at precincts and during community events.
