Capt. Ron Eunice Retires from DeKalb Police

Assistant Commander of the Tucker precinct served more than 32 years on the force.

When Captain Ron Eunice began his career with the DeKalb Police Department, headquarters were on Memorial Drive and the first precinct had just opened in south DeKalb, he said.

That was more than 32 years ago, and Eunice retired this week from the Uniform Division and as assistant commander at the Tucker precinct. About 100 people from around the county came to see him off at a retirement party held there.

His career included 19 years on the SWAT team as well as years in the Criminal Investigation Division and Support Services.Β He was the longest-serving detective sergeant in Homicide, according to the Tucker precinct commander, Major Brian Harris.

"He will be missed by all from his extended family of the men and women of the DeKalb County Police Department," Harris said.

As he headed out the doors of the precinct to start life as a retiree, Eunice said he plans to "take it day by day and see what life brings to me."

"I will miss the people," he said. "It's the people who make up the police department, who give it its reputation and name."
