Burglary Leaves Homeless Pet Rescue Center 'Devastated'

Thieves took computer equipment and retail inventory, among other things.

Burglars broke into AARF Pet Central, the homeless pet shelter that was to open next month in Stone Mountain village, taking tools, computer equipment and more, the organization said.

"As a result, renovations at our new community pet center in Stone Mountain have come to a standstill," AARF said on its website.

The thieves also took fixtures, pet supplies and inventory from a planned retail store.

"We are devastated by this theft," the group said.

AARF is accepting donations to help replace the stolen items online here. Contributions can also be mailed to AARF, 6570 James B. Rivers Drive, Stone Mountain, GA 30083.

The organization is also holding a volunteer day on Sunday, May 15, from noon - 4 p.m. at the address above.
