Burglars Caught in the Act

Two men were nabbed Friday attempting to rob a house.

A pair of burglars were apprehended by DeKalb County Police in the Merry Hills neighborhood off LaVista Road near Tucker on Friday afternoon before they could do any harm.

An alert neighbor spotted two men acting suspiciously and called 911. They were caught emerging from a house and arrested. One of the two burglars confessed to detectives that they were responsible for recent thefts on Citadel and Shepherds Lane.

A neighborhood watch group in the area known as the LaVista Patrol is asking for vigilance "as there are more neighbors than patrol officers," an email bulletin stated Friday. "If you see something, please do not hesitate to call 911 immediately and then either call the LaVista Patrol at 404-827-8635 or email your concern to watch@lavistapark.org."

This doesn't mean turn into citizen snitch and call the cops on your neighbors. It means if you see a crime being committed and you are helpless to stop it yourself, call the 2nd responders. Be careful with the "see something" meme coming out of the white house. It's meant to create a snitch state and manufacture the need for further dependency on a Police State. They are rolling tanks around in South Fulton (see the AJC article from last week). Don't bring them to Tucker.

I really don't care what the White House says and I don't know why you even brought that up, it doesn't fit the conversation. If I see someone lurking through the neighborhood, and they look like they "don't belong" I will be calling the police. I have several single female and elderly neighbors, and if someone is walking behind their homes, I don't even care if someone is there to read the meters, I will call the police, period. Now if they break into our home, their going to get a surprise from a firearm, but as a petite female, I'm not going lurking through the neighborhood like Rambo trying to assess a situation. That's what I pay taxes for, for the police, and I won't hesitate to use mu phone if something doesn't look right.
