A 6-year-old autistic boy went for an unintended joy ride Monday night when someone stole his parent’s car with him still inside the vehicle.

Police say Elias Selph was inside a 2008 Honda Accord when someone stole it from a home in the 300 block of Glen Hollow Drive near Decatur at about 8 p.m., reports WSB TV.

Investigators believe the car’s driver ran inside an apartment and left the car running with the boy inside, police told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. When the driver returned, the car and the boy were gone.

Elias was found unharmed about three hours later. It’s unknown who took the vehicle or if they knew the boy was in the car.

Police have not released details on where the boy was found.
