Armed Robber Holds Up Walgreens on DeKalb Industrial

The thief fled the store with about $500 in cash, DeKalb County police said.

An armed robber held up a store on DeKalb Industrial Way on Monday and fled with about $500 in cash from a register, DeKalb County police said.

The suspect walked into the store at 585 DeKalb Industrial Way and bought a soda, hairspray and another item and paid for them at about 11:30pm, the store's cashier told police, according to the police report.

When the cash register opened, the suspect said, "Look here," and showed the cashier a black semi-automatic handgun he pulled out from beneath his jacket.

"Give me all the tens and twenties, put the large bills at the bottom," the thief told the cashier.

But then he reached into the register and took some cash. The police department's incident report said the amount stolen was unknown, but a separate property sheet listed the loss at $500.

The suspect fled the store on foot and headed toward Lawrenceville Highway, the report said. A security guard at the Paces Park apartment complex nearby told police that ten minutes before police showed up a man fitting the suspect's description entered the property with a code for the gate.

A detective responded to the complex, but no one was arrested.

The suspect was described as a black male with short dreadlocks. He wore a black jogging suit jacket with two white stripes down the sleeves and acid-washed jeans, the report said.
