Armed Man at Chevron Takes 15K and Beer

Police are looking for a man who robbed a Tucker convenience store and gas station on Sunday.

A man entered the Chevron Food Mart on Sunday night, pointed a gun at the cashier, demanded cash, and walked out with $15,000, according to police.

The robbery took place at the Hugh Howell Road location just before 10 p.m.

The employee told police that a black male put a gun to his head and said, "where is the money." The robber, who was wearing a blue hoodie with a black bandana covering his face, ordered the cashier to help him put the cash in a bag. Then the suspect said, "stay on the ground, I'm gonna grab some beer." During the course of the hold-up, he dropped his gun on the floor.

After staying on the ground for approximately 40 seconds, the cashier "hit the emergency alarm button under the counter,'' the incident report stated. He "was unable to advise which direction the suspect traveled" or whether he was on foot or used a vehicle.

Investigators are examining video surveillance footage from inside and outside the store.
