AC Unit Catches Fire at Family Dollar

The Brockett Square fire had gone out when crews arrived.

DeKalb fire crews responded to a call Wednesday afternoon about a possible fire at the Brockett Square shopping center on Lawrenceville Highway.

"The caller said there was a smell of something burning," Capt. Eric Jackson told Patch in a phone call Thursday.

Firemen located the source of the smell by going into the Value Village thrift store and climbing onto the roof. They discovered a smoldering air-conditioning unit.

"it was a burnt-out motor on top of the Family Dollar," Jackson said. No injuries were reported.
