Robert 'Santa' Nash Dies at 85

James Robert Nash, of Tucker, died peacefully after a long illness on Friday, June 29.

My six-year-old son and I moved to Dedee Court in Tucker in July 1990. We are just around the corner from Robert Nash's house.

Somehow I found out that Mr. Nash was Santa Claus at the Mall and was planning to take Sean to see him that Christmas. December came along, and my parents were visiting. We were all set to go shopping when my little white Westie dog shot out the door and into the woods toward the Nash house. We called and looked but couldn't find him, so we decided to go on shopping feeling sure he would come back home like he always did.

A few hours later, as I turned into our cul de sac, I saw a car going up our driveway. As we pulled in behind the car, SANTA stepped out of the car with little Lucky in his arms!

We were all astounded. Santa/Mr. Nash had seen something white floating on the edge of his pond that didn't look quite right. When he got down there he found Lucky clinging to a branch and hanging in the freezing water. We could not have been more grateful that Santa rescued our little pup and saved his life. It was a moment we will never forget.

We were casual friends with Mr. Nash over the years and always enjoyed a chat with him when he was working outside as he did often. We send our sincere sympathy to his family for their loss of a real treasure. Β
