Preservation or Extinction?

Are we advancing as a race or racing towards our doom?

Do you ever wonder if all the signs and conditions and hardships of the world aren’t just the natural order of things? If you think of all the species that have passed on – the natural extinction of creatures – isn’t it possible that all the ‘bad’ in our world today is just the way it is supposed to go?

Whether you look at it from a religious, scientific or practical view – the end will come some day – so who are we to fight it? I’m not saying we should just surrender - but the inevitable is unavoidable.

Our intelligence and need for immediate gratification has outgrown the environment’s ability to house us – so it’s obvious that we will either run ourselves as a species into the ground – or that the environment will cease. Parents are exhausting themselves and depleting their sources to raise their kids – to fill a biological need to procreate – to interject into the world smart, bright, self-sufficient contributing future adults – but for what?

It seems, to me, that the lessons they are learning may only be perpetuating the problem – a sort of circular down fall.  It puts new perspective on the “live in the now" mentality. It’s not that we don’t have to think towards the future – don’t have to plan for it – but haven’t we become a society that puts too much into bettering ourselves and yet at the same time, are really only succeeding at fulfilling an unavoidable doom?
