Tucker-Based Foundation Awards Grant To Texas A&M

Local organization awards funds to universities with poultry science departments.

Texas A&M University has received a student recruitment grant from the U.S. Poultry Foundation, based in Tucker, according to Perishable News.

A check for $29,499 was presented to Dr. John Carey, Professor and Head of the Poultry Science Department at Texas A&M by Dr. James Denton, retired Director of the Center of Excellence for Poultry Science for the University of Arkansas and U.S. Poultry Foundation board member. James Grimm, Executive Vice President of the Texas Poultry Federation, assisted in the presentation.

"Because we have the support of the U.S. Poultry Foundation, we are able to reach and recruit high quality students that will serve the future of the industry well. We truly value our relationship with the U.S. Poultry Foundation and want to express our sincere appreciation for their support of our efforts,” said Dr. Carey. β€œFunds from the Foundation allow the Department to invest significant time and resources in undergraduate student recruiting activities."

The Foundation's board recently approved student recruiting grants totaling more than $180,000 to six U.S. universities with poultry science departments and 14 other institutions with poultry programs.

U.S. Poultry & Egg Association is an all-feather organization representing the complete spectrum of today’s poultry industry, with a focus on serving member companies through research funding, education, communication, and technical assistance. Founded in 1947, U.S. Poultry & Egg Association is based in Tucker, GA.
