The Chronicle of Philanthropy's special report 'How America Gives' has an interactive tool that shows how we're doing locally.

The Chronicle of Philanthropy today came out with a special survey called 'How America Gives' and the Atlanta area ranks relatively high.

But how did Tucker do?

There is an interactive tool that allows you look up results according to ZIP code, and 30084 came in at 1,884th out of 28,725 places in the country. Total contributions from our area came to $18.1 million. Median contribution was $2,946 and the median discretionary income was listed as $49,088, which represents 6 percent of income given.

The report is based on the Internal Revenue Service's most recent available records of Americans who itemized their deductions, the Chronicle says; the study examines taxpayers who earned $50,000 or more in 2008.
