Navy Airman Earns Service Award

Tucker resident shines at recently completed basic training.

Navy Airman Berge A. Terzian of Tucker has received the United Service Organization Award, presented to a recruit who best exemplifies the spirit and intent of the term "shipmate."

Terzian, who joined the Navy in February, is the son of Shoghig and Kevork Terzian, also of Tucker, and comes from Beirut, Lebanon.

He is a graduate of Lakeside High School and Georgia State University, where he earned a BA degree in American History. Terzian completed basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.

During training, recruits learn general military subjects such as seamanship, close-order drill, naval history and first aid, according to Neighbor Newspapers.
