Tucker Team Purifying Water in African Villages

Local church making a difference in West Africa

There is this man I go to church with. His name is David. He's a rocket scientist. I don't mean that he's smart. I mean David actually is a rocket scientist. Pretty rad, huh? So, one day he's at church and someone from West Africa mentions the problem of clean water in his homeland. They have to buy bottled water and the poor are out of luck. David thinks that this stinks.

So, David could have done what many of us do and say a little prayer for Sierra Leone. He could have donated some money. David, however, took it a step further: he created a water purification system. (The things you can do when you are a rocket scientist!) When it was complete, he asked if anyone from church wanted to go with him to install these systems. So, right now in West Africa there is a team of people from Tucker, Georgia installing water purification systems in villages. I am so proud of my community and church. Surrounding countries have asked about these systems already and they have not even returned from their two-week trip.

What an awesome way to use your gifts and talents to help others. I am totally inspired and I hope you are too.

You don't have to go to Africa to make a difference. There are lots of amazing local groups you can volunteer with. Leave me a comment if you want some help finding a place to plug in.
