Honoring DeKalb County Police

DeKalb County Police Officers will be honored at Mountain West Church on Sunday, May 27, 2012.

A couple of year ago, local pastor Cliff Gates was researching ways to give back to the Tucker community. While doing his research, he discovered that the Tucker Police officers lacked a very important thing-appreciation from those whom they serve. 

As the community had grown and the economy had tanked, he felt like this was a critical need. With the help of his team at Mountain West Church, Cliff and the outreach department began to organize a day to tell the local police thank you.  The first year it was a simple picnic held at . The group quickly outgrew the small venue. 

This day has grown into Dekalb County’s largest police appreciation event. Other area organizations, including the and , have joined with Mountain West to make this day a success. The event includes an award presentation, picnic, and family activities.

This year’s police appreciation event will be held at Mountain West Church campus on Sunday, May 27 directly following the noon church service. This event is open to the community.
