Johns Homestead's Crucial Meeting Is Tuesday
This morning at 9 a.m. share your thoughts with county commissioners on the new animal shelter location.
DeKalb County Commissioners have whittled down the new County Animal Shelter site list to three locations, and one of the three is Johns Homestead Park.
Please join us at the PUBLIC Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, June 11 at 9 a.m. at Maloof Auditorium, 1300 Commerce Drive in Decatur to share your opinions with the commissioners.
They would need to bulldoze more than five acres of pristine forest, and so far there has been no discussion on what they plan to do with the 185-year-old Historic Farmstead and outbuildings. They also haven't addressed wildlife issues, the Great Blue Heron rookeries, etc.
