Beverly Thompson, a public education specialist with DeKalb Fire Rescue wrote on GoFundMe.com:

I met Zna Gresham and her mom on Monday, Oct. 28, at an award ceremony hosted by the State of Georgia's Insurance Commissioner and Fire Marshal. During an apartment fire, 10-year-old Zna caught a one-month-old newborn from the second floor.

Since this fire her family has been homeless, living in a motel, not knowing if they will have enough money to pay the daily rate. After meeting this young lady I pledged to do all I can to help them get back on their feet. She's a true gem and deserves a fighting chance.

Thompson seeks to raise $20,000 to help the family get settled in a home.
