Food, Clothes Needed for House Fire Victims

A Tucker family is destitute after a massive fire at their home.

A fire that swept through a house on Old Norcross-Tucker Road Tuesday night has left a local family with almost nothing.

The residents of the house are a woman and four children - three are her own and one is a cousin. They are now in effect homeless though an agency has provided a hotel voucher for three nights and a few clothes.

Livsey Elementary School, attended by one of the children, is asking people to donate clothing and food before 2 p.m. this Friday, Nov. 22. Sizes are listed below.

"We will make arrangements to deliver the items to the family prior to the end of the day this Friday," said Livsey Principal Jamie L. Wilson in a message to parents.

"At this point, they have no food," Wilson said. "Longhorn's provided them with lunch yesterday, since her cousin works there part-time. They have no family here and have no plans for Thanksgiving."

The woman told Wilson that everything in her home was destroyed by the blaze, with the exception of some kitchen items.
