Food, Clothes Needed for House Fire Victims

A Tucker family is destitute after a massive fire at their home.

A fire that swept through a house on Old Norcross-Tucker Road Tuesday night has left a local family with almost nothing.

The residents of the house are a woman and four children - three are her own and one is a cousin. They are now in effect homeless though an agency has provided a hotel voucher for three nights and a few clothes.

Livsey Elementary School, attended by one of the children, is asking people to donate clothing and food before 2 p.m. this Friday, Nov. 22. Sizes are listed below.

"We will make arrangements to deliver the items to the family prior to the end of the day this Friday," said Livsey Principal Jamie L. Wilson in a message to parents.

"At this point, they have no food," Wilson said. "Longhorn's provided them with lunch yesterday, since her cousin works there part-time. They have no family here and have no plans for Thanksgiving."

The woman told Wilson that everything in her home was destroyed by the blaze, with the exception of some kitchen items.

Clothing sizes:
  • Female age 9, Pants 7-8; Shirt Medium; Shoe 2.5; Coat Medium
  • Female age 16, Pants 15-16; Shirt Large; Shoe 9; Coat Large
  • Female age 20, Pants 11-12; Shirt Large; Shoe 8.5; Coat Large
  • Male age 20, Pants 30-30; Shirt Medium; Shoe 9; Coat Medium
  • Mother, Pants 11-12; Shirt Medium; Shoe 7.5; Coat Medium

This Family lives across the street from me, and I would love to help, but I need more time to get stuff together. If they are not in their home, is there someone who knows where they will be? I think a lot of people could give things that can't make it to Livsey by tomorrow.

Stay tuned. I'm trying to see if they'll accept anything after the deadline. I can't see why they wouldn't.

Hey...the school was FULL of donations today. I asked if there would be a place to continue and they didn't know...but I can attest that the Tucker community REALLY stepped up. There were clothes, food, and gift cards galore. No word on where they are currently staying or if they need a place.
