Eagle Trek Raises $70,000 for Evansdale Elementary

Evansdale Eagles showed their school pride at the Second Annual Eagle Trek Walk-a-thon. After six weeks of collecting pledges, everyone took to the lower field on Oct. 3 to walk, skip and march for this neighborhood school. 

In addition to reaching the $70,000 goal, they saw an astounding rate of school-wide participation with 53 percent of students helping raise funds for Evansdale.

Organizers are very grateful to several generous anonymous donors who provided a challenge that pushed families closer to the goal. More than 900 total donors can feel confident that every penny will stay at Evansdale and will benefit both the outstanding PTA programs as well as important investments by the Evansdale Education Foundation. Donations came from across the country, and students walked with the support of neighbors and former Evansdale families.

Eagle Trek is the biggest fundraiser of the year that provides valuable resources to our school. The leaders of the Evansdale school administration, Foundation and PTA work jointly together to target areas of need. Investments with the money we raise make a meaningful and tangible difference. Evansdale teachers are better trained, more teachers are Gifted Certified (which earns Evansdale extra funding from the county), and the full time Reading Specialist we've employed for over two years is responsible for improving the reading capabilities of hundreds of students while lowering student/teacher ratios at the same time.
