Superintendent Thurmond to Give State of the System Address

Everyone is invited to attend the December meeting of the Tucker Parent Council, which will be held MONDAY, Dec. 16, beginning at 7 p.m.

The guest speaker will be Superintendent Michael Thurmond who will give the state of the system address and answer questions about the recent SACS visit.  It is not known whether the board members or regional superintendent will also attend.

The Tucker community is encouraged to attend as there are many concerns about the future of Tucker's schools in light of the city schools and charter cluster petitions from other areas.

Issues that were brought up the last time since Mr. Thurmond visited the Tucker community included:  overcrowding at Tucker and checking of affidavits, the impact of cities and charter proposals on the school system, the impact of the refugee population on our schools in particular.  An issue that came up since the time of Mr. Thurmond's last visit was the use of electronic or online books at Tucker High and the status of the cell tower contracts with the school system.
