Tuesday is Tucker's Anniversary

Local businesses are recognizing the town's 121st anniversary.

By Harry Powell of the Tucker Historical Society

Dear Members and Friends!

Last year on June 23 Tucker Historical Society had a special recognition day of the donated historically significant items and of the families who helped make that happen. The first post office desk used by Alpheus Glenn Chewning from 1892 and the old Congregational Church pew from the Grant family were put on display inside Browning Courthouse.

Tucker residents and leaders were invited to enjoy the presentation of those items as everyone learned more about Tucker history. It was a fun day with music, food and history. This year, instead of having a party at Browning Courthouse, we've invited local area shops and restaurants to join in the small town celebration of Tucker's 121st anniversary.

As you go about your day on Tuesday, June 25, consider checking with our local small businesses and restaurants in the Tucker area to see if they have a 121st Anniversary Celebration poster in their shop windows or perhaps on their outdoor signs. Some may have a special sale or perhaps named a menu item in honor of the day. The businesses will decide how they choose to participate, but we hope you will raise a toast to Tucker's history and to her future. Listed below are of some of the shops and restaurants who may have a poster displayed or have their outdoor signs mentioning Tucker's 121 anniversary:

Cofer Bros, Garden Enthusiast - Backyard Nature Station, Custom Frame Shop, Sweet Dee's Bakeshop, Festival Unique Gifts and Fine Art, Chick-fil-A at Tucker Station, Matthews Cafeteria, Local 7, Los Colinas Mexican Grill, Aldo's Café, Sangria's Mexican Restaurant, Roly Poly, Tucker Meat Market, Greater Good BBQ, Yum Yum Thai, Grecian Gyro, Los Hermanos, Shorty's Pizza, Blue Ribbon Grill, Old Hickory House, Hearth & Patio Shop, and Rosenfeld's Jewelry.

We appreciate all the businesses in Tucker and encourage you to always Shop Local! Thanks and Happy 121st Anniversary Tucker, GA!
